SERVICES
Different loan
services are offered using the latest technologies. Bibliographic instruction
is available at all levels.
Loan Services
The primary objective
of these regulations is to maximize the availability of library resources,
by insuring efficient and fair access primarily for all Academy borrowers.
Any person using the library implicitly agrees to conform to the library
regulations concerning the circulation of materials.
Who may borrow?
Academy
borrowers include professors, students and employees of the International
Academy of Philosophy. The library is open to the general public, but privileges
of non-IAP users are restricted. Please contact the librarian desk for more
information.
Interlibrary Loan
The purpose of
the Interlibrary Loans Service is to provide users with documents that are
NOT found in the collections of the IAP
Library, and which are required for purposes of research and teaching. Reference
works, rare books, and software are normally excluded from this service.
Most documents can usually be obtained within two
or three weeks of a request being made (however, some may take longer
depending on where they are coming from).
There is a flat
fee of CHF 3.- per book and of CHF 0,20 per page
of a journal article received.
Please note that these fees represent only a portion of the costs;
the IAP Library is still subsidizing the majority of costs for this service.
The lending library
decides on the loan period for its documents. The loan period is usually
from two to four weeks. Renewal requests
are accepted only in exceptional circumstances. A document may be renewed
only once. The lending library may also set conditions on the use of its
documents. It may require that a document be consulted on location, forbid
photocopying, etc.
Borrowed items
must be returned directly to the IAP librarian. Loss of a document must
be reported immediate
